Minor injuries from these attacks, particularly on October 17 and 18, were reported by Pentagon spokesman, Air Force Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder. This surge in attacks, notably by Iran-backed militias, coincides with increased U.S. support for Israel following an October 7 Hamas attack, prompting U.S. military reinforcements in the eastern Mediterranean.

Israeli Forces Move Into Strategic Positions in Gaza | Military analysts on Monday observed Israeli forces establishing tactical-assembly areas around Gaza City to control entry and exit, particularly at Salah-al-Din Road, a vital link between northern and southern Gaza, granting a strategic chokepoint. This setup could aid civilian evacuation from northern Gaza while blocking Hamas resupply, noted Michael Knights from the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Tactical-assembly areas, enabling larger operations and often housing medical posts, find suitable locations in Gaza's beaches for controlling boat movements. Israel tanks reach Gaza City outskirts.

Antisemitic mob storms Russian airport looking for Jews | On Sunday in Dagestan, Russia, a crowd stormed Makhachkala Uytash Airport following an Israeli flight's arrival, causing a temporary shutdown and flight diversions. The protesters, opposing the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, displayed antisemitic slogans, with clashes causing 10 injuries. A pilot cited safety concerns as protesters surrounded the plane. The Kremlin blamed "external interference" for the unrest, scheduling a meeting to address it. The incident prompted calls from the Russian Jewish community for stringent perpetrator punishment and responsible media coverage on Middle East affairs to prevent further radicalization.
